Himalayan Java Coffee - Bhaktapur

There are several restaurants within the Bhaktupar Durbar Square that offer you nice window and rooftop views of the Nyatapola Temple and surrounding. Himalayan Java Coffee seemed to have prime central location directly across from the temple. On the $$$ side but if you are foreigner and need to pay $14 USD / 1,600 NPR to enter, you might as well enjoy the view and splurge a bit more. It had 4 floors, where 4th being the rooftop. Lots of seating options based on your need - temple / rooftop balcony view, quiet view / indoor view, or outdoor view. Personally I found the balcony seats in the balcony on the rooftop to be uncomfortable and awkward for eating. The bruschetta was very delicious - we devoured so it quickly. The staff were all courteous and prompt. At times it felt staff heavy. One flight of stairs per floor. Be careful of hitting your head if you are taller than 5'10" / 178cm.

After visiting their Pokhara outlet twice and falling in love with the Caramel Macchiato, we were delighted to discover their Bhaktapur branch located in Taumadhi Square. The traditional Newari architecture of the facade immediately caught our attention. Spread across three floors, this outlet offers clear views of the bustling square, making it an ideal spot to relax and take in the vibrant atmosphere. We ordered the Caramel Macchiato, Cafe Latte, Cappuccino, Nepali Tea, and Mexican Omelette. While the Latte, Cappuccino, and Nepali Tea were enjoyable, the Caramel Macchiato, though good, didn’t quite match the one from their Pokhara outlet. The standout, however, was the Mexican Omelette, which was absolutely delicious.

Good and relaxing place to take a rest and enjoy the view of the place while visiting Bhakapur. Could have coffee from Nepal and food are fair to the price. Clean and friendly service. PS. Bread and crumble eggs are tasty.

The coffee was rich and flavorful, the food was fresh and delicious, and the ambience perfectly blended warmth and elegance. One thing that truly stood out was the hospitality—the staff were genuinely welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Spending quality time with my family in such a beautiful and relaxed setting was priceless. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great coffee, good food, and heartwarming service with a stunning view.

Best Himalayan Java in Kathmandu Valley PERIODDD!!! You’ll get to experience the authentic Bhaktapur newari architecture, soak in the Nyatapola environment filled with joy and cultural essence of Newari culture!! Idk i can go on and on about the place and its architecture!! Dont forget to sit on the bay window on 3rd floor with magnificent view of the 5-storey temple; a masterpiece from Malla architecture period !!

Some of the food were awesome, while others were above-average. I wouldn't say any were average or below-average taste. The best dish i've had here is French Toast, i highly recommend this for breakfast. Service was slow though. Overpriced for the portions served. Overall, recommended.
